A Visit with Hannah Jean
As you know, Sarah and Ken had a little baby girl on March 5. They named her Hannah. Her middle name is Jean, after my mother Marie Jean. Hannah arrived a bit early (early? definately not a Heffernan trait) and weighed in at only 2 teeny little pounds. Then she lost 4 ounces after she was born. But, she grew and she grew and she grew and she grew. And on May 17, Hannah Jean got to go home. Congratulations to the McPartland's. After Hannah had been home for a few weeks, my Mom and I took a ride and spent the afternoon with Sarah and Hannah. While Mom had seen Hannah in the hospital when she was born, this was her first chance to hold Hannah and count all ten of Hannah's fingers and toes. When we arrived at Sarah's, Hannah was just waking up from a nap. Gram swooped right in and took over!
Hannah is so sweet. She's a perfect little baby!
Hannah took to her great-grandmother right away and decided that Gram's lap was the perfect spot to spend a lazy, sunny June afternoon!
After all, with Gram around Hannah didn't have to work at anything. Gram even straightened out her little legs for her. Life's good when Gram's around!
After a big yawn, it was time for a another nap on Gram's lap.
But not before a little wave to the camera.
Mom was so happy and proud to be with her granddaughter and great-granddaughter. It was really nice to see. I think Sarah was just as proud as her Gram.
After such a busy morning, Hannah had worked up quite an appetite. So, it was time for a little snack.
Then it was back to Gram's lap for some serious napping. And Gram didn't let her down. She put her right to sleep.
Hannah was out like a light!! She didn't even want to wake up for her Mom!
Mom and I had a really nice day with Sarah and Hannah. This was my first trip to Sarah's house. So before we headed home, Sarah gave us a little tour of her yard and Ken's garden. He definately has a green thumb. He has a beautiful flower garden along the back deck.
And he found a sunny spot for a vegtable garden! He carved out a plot and planted lettuce and a variety of great summer vegtables.
He also planted fresh herbs in patio containers along the deck. Here are the rosemary and basil planters.
This planter has a combination of herbs - thyme, parsley, basil and rosemary. Sage too?
Thanks for a great day, Sarah. Gram and I had a wonderful time. We're looking forward to our next visit!
See you soon, Hannah. We love you!
